Mesh repair



Any idea how the best way to fix this imported mesh? smoothing?

It's only a box! why not just make a new one on top of the old?

Sorry the picture doesn't make it clear. It is a box with polygons islands(element in 3dsMax). They will move in different directions.

Why don't you post scene file?

i guess the autosmoothing doesnt work?

Looks like it's just poorly triangulated. Hard to see without edged faces turned on. You probably just need to manually create some new edges to get rid of overlaps. Doing a small inset on the top polys might help also.

Yes autosmoothing or smoothing seems to do nothing. Is there other reported cases of this?


In the end i exported with collada and it went well.
