a color grading software is not just for the bigger projects, thats why blackmagic design offers a free version of resolve

if you dont want to learn another software, try to find some help with color grading. alot of people are searching for "real world" projects to make some steps into color grading. i think you will find plenty of guys willing to help you for free or a small tipp

for the "offline" workfow:
the idea comes really from the older days where storage wasnt that cheap and big as today.
you captured all your footage in low res, low quality to make your edit
and recaptured only the footage in the cut in high res, high quality

its still a valid workflow if you have a lot of source material or need a little bit more performance in the software

I'd suggest through hiero in the mix. Edit in Avid (or straight in hiero) and then from hiero export to nuke. I just starting doing this a few months ago and it's pretty nice. Hiero is basically an extension and organizing tool for nuke.

hiero is a very expensive solution to add, but yes its a great piece of software if you work with nuke and timelines/edits
