Image sequence workflow qustions

Hi!

I currently have been editing using finalcut pro x, which is simple and does most everything i want. i also use many other programs that require or run much better when working with image sequence shots. mostly because any camera i have shoots in the scary h264.

I am first curious on what others workflow for taking raw footage and "working" with it is?

The way i seem to work now is killing me with long shots, and its pulling all my raw footage into final cutx, chopping it up to start the edit. then if there is an effects shot i would open that original file in quicktime, export to a tiff sequence, then do my cg and whatnot, then return it to compressor and get it back to a Prores for final cut.

this is long, and ridiculous in my opinion and is taking up a lot of time and making for very messy hard to pass around shots.

anyone start by making all there footage sequences to start?

also i am curious, can final cut export out image sequences and relink those sequences to the edits i have so that i can export a xml or whatever for another app?

appreciate anyone taking the time to read this.
