A couple of questions about 3D market and specializations in this field
1. Can you describe the distribution of the market for 3D-artists?
What areas/specializations of 3D market are covered
a) by freelance telecommuters distributed globally?
b) by studios distributed globally?
c) by hired in-house workers in the world cultural centers like NYC/LA etc?
2. What is the distribution of tasks between 3D artists and 3D animator in case of a freelancer working from home remotely?
a) Does artist usually perform rigging and setting of animation parameters
OR artist performs only modeling and all subsequent work is done by animator?
b) Is it possible to work completely as a 3D-artist without doing animation?
OR usually clients ask to do animation too?
c) Who earns more - 3D artists or 3D animators?
I could find only general statistics for Multimedia Artists and Animators here
and general statistics for Artists, Sculptors etc. here
As you can see there is a significant difference in earnings.
But I'm not sure
- what category is more applicable to 3D artists
- and whether it is possible to extract such specialization as "3D artist" at all by removing from it animation completely
What can you say about money?
