Any news regarding what's on the roadmap for maya for the near future?

Correct me if I'm wrong but autodesk never reveal any road map or future plans for any version of maya. There was sculpting preview in 2015 but no date of release or anything so it could be implemented in 2019, 5 years from now or never.
Autodesk way of doing thing is you will get what you will get and be happy with it after 2 or 3 new version where those new features would be fixed, stable, polished and actually usable in day to day workflow

Just a warning. The new update breaks licensing so have your serial number ready.

it's seamless if you use a network license though

2018 update 3 release notes:

Being a full installer is nice. Installs in 20 minutes instead of 40.
Looks like a decent amount of fixes - most of which don't seem like critical/major ones, so hopefully those issues are all out of the way now.

I was hoping a little for maya 2019 on FMX, there are 2019 version of max and most autodesk software already. But I will take those bugfixes and colors in render setup layers anyway : )

hopefully maya 2019 is worth the wait and that some worthwhile changes are coming

Having any expectation is first big step to disappointment

I just started to learn houdini, indie license is very affordable and every update, even half version update is very impressive this way I could feel like it is Christmas when new version come out other than "ok, not that bad, could be worse, maybe next time it will be better"

funny, still no container support for the nodeEditor : --------- ]
And also funny: legacy high quality viewport supports vertex colors with arnold materials, but viewport2.0 does not ?!?!?!?????

also still no viewCube support with viewport 2.0

(no really, it actually doesn't work)

Does it still work if you switch  to legacy... the view cube?

works in legacy. It's a known limitation in their documentation. Just sort of funny that for 2018 AD announced that all vp2 functionality was finished
