Snapping while Free Transforming (scaling)

Hi guys,

something has been bothering me for a while now:
When interactively scaling a layer while pressing shift to lock the aspect ratio, snapping seems to be inactive. Quite frustrating! Often enough, I want to scale a layer to an exact fit between two guides...
How do the pros do that?

Thanks a lot for any help!

I don't know how the pros do it, but I go to View>Snap (guides, layers etc.) to and set it there.

Yes, but when scaling while constraining the aspect ratio, snapping doesn't work... Hence my question...

For that I just scale just the width (so that it snaps to your guide) then copy/paste the x-value into the y-value field.

That does serve as a workaround, thanks!
