texture replacement by Net render. Ugh.
Trying to render a rush job...have a texture in my file called "logo.psd". Generic, I know, but that shouldn't matter.
After waiting about 30 minutes to start getting frames rendered on the network, I noticed that the logos in my renders had been replaced with a completely different logo texture that I did not create, nor have I ever seen it. Nor is that texture in the scene file when I look at it in C4D.
Took me a while to figure it out, but looks like the render server is pulling from its own local hard drive possibly, or each client is pulling from it's own application folder: , a file in NET Render R13 Client >>> tex >>> tutorials >>> logo.psd.
This didn't get replaced when I gathered the project from within C4D (using save project with assets). It is happening at rendertime over the network!?
Bizarre. So I have 2 questions:
A) What is the point of having individual project folders in the net render cue, if it's going to pull from it's own tex folder first anyway?
B) could I use this to my advantage when I have many scenes to render that use the exact same textures? Could I just drop the textures into the render server's tex folder?
I know, I know. Test and see, right?
