Vulcan, Caleb Ashmore (3D)

Title: Vulcan
Name: Caleb Ashmore
Country: Canada
Software: Maya, ZBrush

This is a copy of Guillaume Coustou's "vulcan". I know its not perfect, but I'm going to consider it finished for now. there will always be endless tweaking but its time to move onto a new idea :)
However I'm definitely open to any critique.

Cheers
-Caleb

heres the wikipedia article on the original:

Great work! The only two things I don't like so much are his nose (I think the bridge of the nose should be a little higher and wider) and I don't see the detail of the iris and pupil in the eyes. Without those the eyes look empty IMO. Also, in the original his right foot rests on the ground, but in yours you left out that part so he's just dangling his feet from the pedestal. I think that adding that ground piece would help anchor him. But you did a great job with all the other details!

Great use of colour. Really creates a surreal mood.

thanks for the replys guys. And thank you for the critiques on the face. I agree about the nose, thanks for bringing that to my attention. i always seem to gimp up noses, lol.

as for wires. I made a human base mesh that i re-use for my sculptures. its low rez enough that theres definitely no similarities between my sculptures. the topology isnt perfect, but i like it because it subdivides to 5.8 million polies which is the highest my computer can handle before blowing up.

Modeling is very great, impressive anatomic piece, but I especially like the lighting.
