CollieMouse SpaceNavigator plugin - Programmer needed for MAC connection
I got a number of requests for a Mac version of the CollieMouse SpaceNavigator control plugin.
Unfortunately I do not own a Mac, so I can't compile or test, and the interest is not even remotely high enough to justify purchasing a Mac. (I tried offering it as donationware, but so far exactly one donation has been collected, so forget about that venue...)
I would like to make the plugin available for more people though (a new version with some error corrections and direct button support is in preparation). The Mac version would have to be done by someone who can handle the Mac side of things.
Do we find a volunteer on this forum? Preconditions:
- Owns a SpaceNavigator and has compiled a plugin before.
- Is acquainted with the Mac messaging concept (not the C4D messages - the Mac system ones). 3dconnexion includes an example for the API on Mac. The PC one was pretty useful.
It is necessary to connect a separate message loop to C4D that polls the SpaceNavigator events (however that may look on Mac; I am so naive and assume it's similar to the PC handling). Therefore it is not enough to throw the plugin into a new XCode project and compile it; the connective code has to be reprogrammed for Mac. This code has a size of 336 lines on PC, including comments, imports, and extras, but lots of that is taken from the 3dconnexion examples already.
The actual plugin functionality is encapsuled and separate from the message loop code; it does not need to be touched for the Mac version.
There is no money in it, sorry; I programmed the plugin mainly for my own purposes and offer it without serials or registration (and almost no one ever donates) so if you're going to do it, the honor should be enough ;-)
