Maquette: Tiamat - The World Dragon.

My inspiration came from two places, first and foremost the Babylonian myth of how our world was created.

And also my old Dungeons and Dragons days (of course).
Here she is,

quite beautiful sculpting. Its a shame that the colours doesnt do its justice!

I realy dont like how the belly is pressed to the board, would like it to have that nice ark all the way báck with the tail.

Well worked threw concept and its inspiring!

Thanks Alice, I did think about the belly being too big.
My thinking was that this is a HUGE dragon, the biggest of them all, she probably doesn't have to do too much, so I made her fat (also in the Myth she gave birth to the world).

PS. I do need to paint it still, but the sculpting and sanding is done.

Great work, I always enjoy other peoples talent!

The dragon that especially caught my attention is the closeup on the black dragon, I just love the grin on its face, looks like he's up to no good, that facialexpression really cracked me up in a good laugh.

Thanks for all the comments everyone.

Gena - I was going for that growling grin thing. When it's fully painted, the eyes should help it a bit more too.

Tuga_3D - There's a few more on my w/s, of another maquette. She was for a cartooning class I took, my first maquette. This dragon is my second attempt.

eech55 -

Missing Link - The tutorial was pretty basic stuff. I forgot to show what tools I used.
I used a couple of dental picks to do most of the work, as well as a plastic knife and an Exacto knife.
(Actually my tools are very simple, whatever I had laying around to do the job.) Don't tell.
