The Rodents, Johannes Holm (2D)

Title: The Rodents
Name: Johannes Holm
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

As part of a personal project this line-up comes from a short story that I am currently writing. A medieval world with battles between rivaling Rodents being fought in the forests. Had a lot of fun with it and each one of these guys has a history of their own.
Thanks for watching.

Cool

How cute. I love the mouse and squirrel (the gopher's really fat; I guess if this was a D&D group, he'd be the half orc or something). Your squirrel knight kind of a reminds me of chip and dale (the armor reminds me of Chip's leather jacket). I love the level of detail you got on here and your rendering techniques are really well done. The mouse archer is just the cutest (although I bet those arrows feel like be struck by needles; painful, but not deadly). I like the bulk you got on the gopher (he's big and heavy, but not so obese that he looks useless; he looks imposing instead). The squirrel's still the coolest (great idea to add on the scarring on the eye and face; and if that's an eye patch on the left, then it's even cooler), and his pose is great (and it still conforms to the anatomy of a squirrel; so congrats there). Overall, I just love this piece. With your heroic poses and dynamic lighting; it just came out great. Definitely a keeper for your portfolio. Keep it up. Great job.

Thanks!

wow thanks guys!

victorior - glad you like it!

linainverse23 - thank you so much for the kind words! Yeah, the Squirrel is the hero of the bunch, the prairie dog is the brawler and the mouse is the scout
And yes, that is an eye-patch on his face.

Artbot - lol, I see these guys everywhere now after having painted them.

romanovich - thanks so much, they appreciate a good cuddle.

isissousa - Thanks! Who says rodents can't be tough

YashaP - I will check it out, thanks!

snikt - Glad to share in a place where there are so many talented people around. I have more of these guys in the pipeline.

rhinton - Second reference I will need to check out. Thanks so much, I'm sure it will be good inspiration.

kiboSVK - Glad you like it

TerryTrefry - You know, if you had browsed my previous work you would see that this is even very different from what I usually did. Odd how inspirations sometimes leads you in new directions.

eng-omar - Thank you!

DrDardis - Well now I won't get around checking it out since you are the second person to bring it up Thanks, I am having fun with the writing, but I won't hide that it's much harder than painting these guys - a whole other part of your brain, that in my case is very rusty...
