Wow! I love it!

The hair is really well done. It's strikes the perfect balance between realistic and stylized. Could you maybe drop a few lines as to how you achieved that look?

Thanks AJ1!

I did it with hair-farm, and I worked on it as if it was a realistic hairstyle, but activating the speed up render option, wich renders faster and removes many "texture" details on the hair, so the look is smoother. I also reduced the amount of uncombed hairs I usually create for a realistic hairstyle, there are some of them, but way less than usually, wich also helps making it look a bit more cartoon.

Thanks for the response, and congratulations on your finished piece.

I really want to start playing around more with animated/cartoon style characters, and from my early experiments, the hair seems to be the most challenging part. Its tough to get that detailed, yet simplified and stylized look, and I think you've done a great job.

Lovely little snapshot and style.

I think that the cauldron, and the hats could have a little more detailed shaders.
Maybe some specular's in the girl's eyes.

But very nice lighting, and the fact you used additional lights (in the good old way), and not letting GI to do all the stuff, did the trick to me.
Also, nice composition, and very nice color harmony.

Any chance on sharing some info (and screenshots) on lighting? What you have used (which render engine). What was the lights types you used, and what you have used for overall diffuse lighting (and shadows)?

Well done.
Now it's the time to be extreme!

Very nice image! I like all the details you put into it such as the hat collection she has going on. This new tentacle hat should make an interesting addition to her wardrobe!

curious to know if you did the green 'fog' effect in 3ds max or post production?
