Spatium Navis, Adam Lacharite (3D)

Title: Spatium Navis
Name: Adam Lacharite
Country: Canada
Software: 3ds max

I've always been a big fan of sci-fi. So I wanted to do an image that represent what I like about this genre.

I did the modeling and rendering in 3ds Max using Mental ray and I used Photoshop for the composting and the post-process.

It took me one week to complete this image.

Awesome work! You managed to make it organic in a non-organic construct of cold metal. Almost serpentine... if thats the word, then, I see your profile pic--oh yeah, that's it! I get a sense of boyancy/bubbles I don't know. Just very interesting piece. Nice job.

Smile Very Cool Design • Your Breakdown

Hi Adam Lacharite
This design of a science fiction ship interior looks great. It looks to me like a hallway in a ship. Would you happen to have a breakdown of your process? Or a 3d wire frame of your background? Very awesome work!
Continue to inspire by bringing your vision to life :)

I'd throw it in VRay, add a select amount of blurry reflections, a physical sun/sky with the earth like properties turned off. It wouldn't have this distinctive game like feel, but I'd appreciate the realism more. Still, very nice work.

What a fantastic piece of art! I really like the overall mood you get with this lights and colors.
Maybe it's not photoreal. But i think it's even better! Also nice modeling and texturing. Especially for this short amount of time! congratulations.

I especially like the non-realistic style. It doesn't always need to be this super-realistic ambient occlusion stuff and physically correct reflections. It has something special and fantastic, it's more like real art to me this way. It feels like something alien and fascinating is going on there, like if you want to observe all this and see what's going on there. The design reminds me a little bit of Metroid Prime. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to everybody!

In this image, I really wanted to establish a more lirycal and contemplative mood. I'm really glad that this is what peaople generaly like about it.

And for those who asked to see WIP images or wireframes, I'll publish some images really soon!
