How to rig this rotary engine?

Hi everyone!

I just saw a cool Rotary Engine Training Video for Luxology modo. And this is the website:
http://www.luxology.com/store/16_rotary_engine/

You can see the animation on the gif picture. How to achieve this effect in max? Anybody tried before?

The attachment is a max file I created which you can use to make this rig.
