CUDA Cycles rendering much slower than CPU rendering?

I usually use a Mac for Blender, but my Mac has an ATI card that doesn't support CUDA rendering. I recently got a quite speedy Alienware gaming PC and attempted to render a Blender Cycles scene using CUDA. It's a simple scene, just a plane, the monkey with Anisotropic shader and an emitter object. I was stunned that the CUDA rendering came out 20 seconds SLOWER than CPU rendering. Any idea what's causing this? Everyone says rending with the GPU is so much faster. My graphics card is a solid performer otherwise.

Hi, it depends on GPU and if it is a mobile GPU there have only 50% performance of regular GPU on Cuda. TRy my benchmark file:

Results on page 5.

Cheers, mib.
