Joining components

Hi.

I am fairly new to Blender and have created a female head and body using a mirror modifier but had problems with hands and feet so I created a hand in a separate .blend file and then imported it into my female model scene. My only problem is that I just can't work out how to attach the hand to my model. It was a lot easier creating a hand separately than when I tried doing it directly onto the model. Can anyone help.

Hello Paul,

I wonder this too for a while, but magically stumbled upon it. In the option, file, in the top left corner, there will be a option called " Apprend ". This option allows you to access any .blend file and take out whatever you need. I assume you need those models, so they will be located under the object folder in the .blend. I hope this helps.

With Blender 2.66, you can now copy and paste meshes from one file to the next, even if you shut down Blender first.

Append is very powerful but it can be overwhelming and confusing (at least to me!)

The newer versions of Blender support copy and paste between different open sessions - ctrl c and ctrl v

CTRL J will join two or more objects into a single mesh, likewise while in mesh edit mode 'P' will let you separate an object by selection, loose parts or material.
