PNG Sequence import

Hi there, I would like to know about how to import a PNG sequence into blender, for compositing. I have looked around and tried do figure it out, but for some reason, when I select the sequence import and I select the first image, then it only imports that one image, although, when I select all the images in the sequence, it imports all of them as their own image. Why is this or am I just missing some steps in this whole process?

I recently started using blender and I need to learn to use the compositor and video sequence editor, so that I can use Blender to a great degree for creating shorts, adverts and for my company that I work for. I am moving over form Maya and After Effects, to Blender, to cut back on costs. The level of work that my company requires of me to do for them in 3D animation, does not require all the features and plug ins that Maya, After Effects and third party plug ins provide, it would be a waste to go and purchase all that software, only to use so little of what they enable you to do.

I have looked up tutorials on Blender Guru, Cg Cookie, Blender Artists, but haven't found one that answers my question.

Thanks in advance guys

You need to select all the images you wish to import. The easiest way is to have all the images of the sequence in their own directory, then (from scratch, forgive me if you've already got your video sequence window set up):

  • Open Blender and change to the Video Editing mode
  • Add > Image
  • Navigate to the directory with the sequence, press the 'A' key to select them all, hit 'Add image sequence'

If you have multiple image sequences and don't wish to move them into individual directories, then left-click on the first image, locate the last image in the sequence and, while holding down the 'Alt' key on your keyboard, left-click on the last image - this should select all intervening images in the sequence.
