Armature not moving like Cmu Bvh mocap files does.

Oh great blender Gurus, please help as I am very stumped. I made a make human character and tried every you tube and forum I can find. But It is impossible to make this character simply walk. I got it all down to re targeting the bones<a class="attachment" href="/uploads/default/original/4X/7/a/4/7a4c0811e266109f868a7168ec6da8c7023fe46d.bvh">walk 1.bvh</a> (420.6 KB)
from the performer to the model's skeleton. But the model skeleton deforms when I hit re target. Is there any way I can "give this creation life?" I just want the model to walk on the grid. That's it. Please tell me how (possibly with pics.).
Here's the model and the bvh file I am using. Please help and good luck.
