Qt for Maya 2014 OSX

Hello, I am in need of some answers. I would like to work with Qt in Maya 2014 on the OSX.

What do I need to do? It was pretty straight forward in Windows but it seems more complicated with OSX.

How and where do I start? I cannot even find Designer...I have also been trying to follow the steps given in http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/pyqtmaya2014.pdf but it does not seem to work.

I hope somebody can help me on this so that I can get started on Qt with the Mac since I cannot use the windows version because of some floating license issue that I do not comprehend.

If ever I do end up using Windows(Maya 2009), will my Qt .ui and the PyMEL code work seamlessly with Maya 2014? Thanks...

Hello,

as far as I know you download QT Designer with the other stuff from the QT Download page here: http://qt-project.org/downloads

Is there a reason you want to use PyQt? In Maya 2014 is PySide preinstalled and it should be simillar to PyQt. Usually you just need to change the imports.

from PySide import QtGui

# Create a simple dialog box
msgBox = QtGui.QMessageBox()
msgBox.setText("Hello Maya - using PySide version " + PySide.__version__)
msgBox.exec_()

This should run fine in Maya 2014 on OSX.

Thank you!

I prefer Designer for the simplicity, when I installed the proper Qt version for my Mac, I get Qt Creator which is more powerful but this is not what I want...

The only reason for PyQt is Laziness probably and familiarity. Mac guys just do not get enough love...

You will have to follow the instructions and compile PyQt for Maya yourself. I came by this thread, hoping someone had already done this for OS X and made the download available ... but it doesn't seem like anyone has done that yet.
