MEL newbie - select shaders

Hi All,

I'm pretty new to mel, I was wondering how I would go about scripting something like this?

I'm trying to write a script that'll select the top node of a bunch of referenced character rigs, find the shaders that are attached to that character and then select the file node of that shader and adjust the file node attrs like Alpha gain.

I can't figure out the bit where the script get's the shaders file node that are attached to the model geo from the character rigs.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.
