Smile What is "liveEdits" ?

Hi,
I have a question : what is "liveEdits" in the referenceQuery command ?

Quote:
Specifies that the edits should be returned based on the live edits database. Only valid when used in conjunction with the editStrings flag.

I do not understand. What is live edits database ?

Thanks

Hi, just now i am solving problems around reference management.
Not everything is clear for me, but:

LiveEdits with editStrings print out reference edits, which have been done only in current scene. Without it you will get all edits applied throughout references of references of references...

Are you sur it is this ?
Because sometime we have more string edits with the liveEdits flag, that without.
So i do not understand.
I use the onReferenceNode flag to get edit from the actual scene.

Its really as i wrote.

cmds.referenceQuery( refNode, editStrings = True, liveEdits = True )
give you edits done in current scene

cmds.referenceQuery( editStrings = True, onReferenceNode = refNode )
give you edits done in referenced scene

cmds.referenceQuery( refNode, editStrings = True )
give you all at once

i dont have more outputs with liveEdits flag, please can you check this?

Yeah, but if you have a ref in a ref, and you do :
cmds.referenceQuery(refNode, editStrings = True, onReferenceNode = parentRefNode )

You will have (i think) edits done in current scene.
The question is : what the difference between this, and :
cmds.referenceQuery( refNode, editStrings = True, liveEdits = True )
?

I have to check more...
