Unhappy character animation problem

hi guys,

this may be in the wrong area but it seemed the most suitable, i am very much new to maya and on a huge learning curve so this problem may be just me missing out something but i need help.
im basically trying to get a lady to rotate her arms with an exercise bike which i modelled. The hand grips animation works perfect so i am now trying to get her hand/arms to move with it realistically. i am currently trying to animate her arm every 10ish frames (the rotation is 60frames) but something weird happens. every time i set the first key which is the starting position and then move on 10frames to make the next move, when i go back to view it, the arm is at a completly different place which i set it to. this also happens to the upcoming set keys too.

this is driving me crazy, does anybody know what i may be doing wrong or missing? any type of advice you could give me would be highly apreciated!

thanks guys!

Are you sure you've put a key on all channels on the first frame? Are you animating in fk or ik? I've ran into this aswel where I thought I've put a key on all axis but then later on found out that I only put a key on one channel.
