Question mip_render_subset (node connection limit)

in reference to flicker-free final gather: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=976955

I'm using the mip_render_subset to attempt to render a character only.
objects - only accepts up to 19 pieces
materials only accepts 1 sg

any idea how to render characters with multiple pieces of geometry and/or materials?

The array should accept more than that. However I might forego using a two pass method and use the FGshooter instead or at the very least Native IBL (Environment Light) depending on your situation. (If it's being lit primarily through HDRI)
