a real-time showcase and baking tool request

Here is our latest work, a mobile and interactive real-time visualization experience for the iPAD2.
All shots are recorded in real-time and MentalRay4Maya was used for the lighting.

I just want to say that producing those lightmaps and the whole workflow in MR4Maya when it comes to baking is just a nightmare.
Yes it can produce impressive results but that's only if you spend 20% of production time on creative/art work and 80% of the time of trouble shooting and problem solving. I really hope that the responsible persons for that flaw will do their job next specially that MR is also marketed as a real-time/game tool.

I really hope nvidia will be able to improve implementation of Mental Ray inside Maya, because I agree with you, it is not the simplest thing to use, I guess Autodesk never cared about MR.

For Alone in the Dark, we had Mental Ray implemented in our proprietary software, and baking lightmaps was flawless.

Cool realtime stuff BTW! Mobile devices are getting more and more powerful really quickly.

Really good! Can i ask which engine do you use?
And I must agree with baking workflow with mental ray. Quality is there, but user friendliness not. In each version something new is broken.

We used the Unity engine.
And as you said it's really a stone age workflow when it comes to baking.

Hey Roy,

Really great to see all your testing and questions you have been posting come together. Looks like it was all worth the effort.

Really nice! Have you got a link to the app so we can download it?

Best,

Richard
