Maya VRAY velocity pass please help!

Hey all,

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.

I am using nparticles to get blob meshes to blob together and apart in the scene. I am trying to get a veolcity pass out for my motion blur on it.

However, when I go to test it out it is blank on every frame except when my camera is animating. So the veolcity pass is only recording my camera animation, but not my animation on my object.

I have no clue how to fix this issue. I've tried everything I can think of and now I am at a wall. I have a feeling it has something to do with the nparticles and the way they are meshed out or something like that. I have it all cached out using ncache for the particles.

This is beginning to get a little frustrating and I don't know what else to do. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me, I would really appreciate it!

IT might be that vray cant read the motion data from the meshed nparticles.
We normally bake out all our ncached sims into keyframed vertex animations on geo,
so I've never run into this issue..
I havent tried it on meshed particles before but it works for nCloth for us.

Edit > Keys > Bake Simulation []
In the options for bake simulation make sure Control Points are ticked.
This will bake keys for every vertex on your mesh per frame.
As you can imagine this would create a lot of data so I recommend doing these in clean scenes
to your simulated objects, saving to maya ascii and referencing the .ma into your main scene.

Hope this helps,
