Refraction pass artifacts

Anyone have an idea what is causing the random blue pixels in the attached refraction pass? The stark blue pixels are confined to one polygon object, and only one mr shader, and show up in random spots across the poly model in each image of the sequence. Any help would be appreciated.

Using Maya '13 on a Mac, rendering via Mental Ray and MentalCore.

Are you using final gather in your scene? If so, try disabling it temporarily and run arender to see what it looks like. If the spots disappear then you may need to adjust some settings.. Also, if you are rendering something that is in motion, flickering like this can occur. Have a look at your caustics settings if you find this to be the case.
