unpainted metal alloy material in Mental Ray
Hi
I'm more of a real time artist so I'm struggling a bit to create an unpainted metal alloy in Mental Ray. I would like to achieve a shader similar to the British Electric Lightning or this spacecraft on Master Zaps blog. ![]() ![]() Currently I'm using a mia_material_x and this is a test render ![]() I used this entry on Zaps blog http://mentalraytips.blogspot.co.uk...iamaterial.html as a starting point. I don't know where to plug in my HDRI image. I can get the shader to reflect the tank object but I'd like to additionally have some fake reflection maps added into the surface as well. I have my diffuse map connected connected to the diffuse colour and a spec mapped to the reflection colour. Where do I plug in my lovely HDRI? And can I tweak it's intensity? thanks in advance |

You can plug the hdr into the ibl node which you can create in the render globals. You can tweak the intensity by changing the gain parameter (a color swatch) which is similar to changing the exposure of the image.
