Well from where I'm looking at, there's nothing preventing you to connect the outValue to diffuse. have you tried it ?

also I suggest some research on using ptex with maya mental ray : https://www.google.fi/search?q=ptex...maya+mental+ray

It doesn't let me, I know "diffuse" isn't grey, because its a group that contains "R, G, B", I can't select it, again, because its a group :(

so can you make me that scene?, I have already watched tutorials, the only problem its to connect them xD that's the only thing im missing

Risto thanks for supporting me, but doesn't works, your file isn't the problem and my ptex file either (because I can render in 3Ds Max), I think I did something wrong in the maya.rayrc, can you check it out?, sorry for bothering you

I pasted the line almost at the bottom (because Idk where to paste it)

If you wanna check my maya.rayrc I upload it to Dropbox
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0wcfncipygb9tpe/maya.rayrc

Additional Info:
the example path of the maya.rayrc (on this thread) says its:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2013-x64\prefs\maya.rayrc

but mine actually its on:
J:\PROGRAMS\Maya 2013\Maya2013\mentalray\maya.rayrc

because I installed maya on my external SSD, is that the problem?

So let's get this straight: do you have a problem connecting nodes in Maya or setting Mental Ray up so that you can use ptex - files ?

If the first, then checkout the Maya User Guide about nodes, attributes and whatnot as I suggested earlier.

If the latter then patiently observe at Maya's output window after rendering and according the mental ray's output, consult the web links I posted earlier for more information. Especially if a line like "ptex information not available, must be turned on" appears on the output.

Hope this helps.
