It's not very likely that I will port this to vray. I had a look at the sdk some time ago and it seemed very different.

I'm glad you like it.

btw how do you solve filtering issues near horizon? 2 pass mask composite or some elliptical filtering or ?
Thanks,

Best way I found was to reduce the strength of the bump/displacement the further away you get from the camera.

I did do this on some situations but sometimes I found you can "freez" one frame and project and soft mask in distance.
As for how to you can use gradient ramp as projection and multiply it over bump and displace at the same time.

Question HELP - HOT for Maya x64

Vista x64 | Maya x64

Opened: deformerAndShader.ma
The animation playback works, but the rendered image is not.
Would someone kindly explain how to fix this error?

Can't load plugin on maya 2012 x64. I think it is happening after maya's hotfix 2 installation.

The specified module could not be found.

Hi guys.
I need to create a maelstrom for my next project but don't know how. i tried in maya ocean but it looks wired. so can the "HOT" help me.
the only problem with maya ocean is that when i deformed it it looks like the water going down a drain instead of circulating the hole.so is there any way to simulate wave in circular way????

re

The reason you see water or better your wave going trough water texture (as this is actually what ocean texture is) is you have to think about ocean shader and hot ocean in world space like you would any 3D texture. That means texture is not directly tight to surface UVs so it looks like your surface is traveling trough 3D texture (think of volume of texture rather then image).
To solve this maybe the easiest way would be to create square patch of poly and apply your displace texture as ambient and render sequence of images from the top view (pref. in float format) and then map that image sequence to your wave geometry. This way your UVs are driving the position of wave texture. As always in Maya there is some mel scripting you can do but Im not expert in that field.
Cheers,
Kristijan
