hmm ready to do freelance for free...?

I guess we are talkin of the first you tube link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFa7v9MQn6w

I see a couple of effects here :
Plane crashing (blastcode + debri system)
smoke trail & fire
& the ka boom`s :-)
So before dividing anything there shuld be planning I believe So lets meet up in gtalk or may be here or wtever.

btw I have a similar lookin plane model at my end ready for rock n roll!
but I might need to recontruct everything for shattering for blastcode. If u r good at texturing let me know I`ll send u d file after model construction.
smoke trail..I love this part but wanna work keeping u in a loop.
So let me know more If u have any more better ideas or startegies.
Regards
Vik

Quite excited to do this hope u have same excitement there..now heading back to studio will get back to u later at night.
have a gr8 day ahead

Hi Vik,

Sorry mate I really dont have time to do anything major at the moment especially just for fun (my wife would kill me for starters). I was more looking at the last effect of the rolling fire ball which doesnt need any props or anything just a fluid, thats looks more manageable for me.

Regards Aik.

here is my attempt to get good billowing with the help of wayne! A big thanxs to him,
but wt I found with my study is the sim work best when high detail solve is set to "All grids except velocity" as u can see in my both test where I have kept this thing on & off. thts the only difference else the other settings are same. resolution used is around 90 135 90.

1> sim with high detail ON (with velocity) :

or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwfV8PQG6WE

2> sim with high detail except velocity :
http://www.vimeo.com/4452314
or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DARdBBYzBw

from above test I feel sim with high detail except velocity wrks more better & accurate.
hope others may find this useful.

The last scene in Knowing is not on Youtube yet but this trailer at second 55,56 and 57 is enough for you to know what I meant in the last post.

Hey Giap,

What do you think?

@ Vik,

That some nice simulations there dude, looks like you left out your fuel. I really like what you've done

not too big, 100 x 100 x 180. I cheated with the texturing a bit, I touched it up in post and added some light streaking also.

@ viki164 :

Nice the sim , particularly the one with the high detail velocity on , love the effect on the floor. I m just trying to get this effect and have difficulties to have a nice effect on the ground with a good mushroom effect together , grrr !

see you

looks great. can you share some details on the setup? are you using any fields? Im especially interested in that shockwave on the ground.

Hey Vik,

Glad I could help. I like both sims, youv'e posted. Sim 1 seems to have much nicer billowing than sim 2. It' picture perfect if you ask me. It has all the attributes of a nice explosion. Selecting high detail solve except velocity, definetly saves render time, but it may slow down the movement and the accuracy of the nuke. But stick with what works best for you. Nice job bro.

@Aikiman: that looks good. But I feel it a little lighter than the one in Knowing. Maybe because the color of the smoke make me feel that way. I'm practicing how to do it as well cool.

Yep theres a lot of transparency there, adding more smoke wouldnt be too hard to achieve or changing the color for that matter.

Hey Bro!
I have a question for u or may be anyone who can answer this.
I found few pro`s & cons of both the method
1> using High detail set to ALL GRIDS
2> using high detail set "ALL grids except velocity"

no matter the billowing effect looks better with the first method & also makes me feel tht it keeps getting the energy of swirl continuously but when I try to use any temp turbulenece or If I try to increase my sim scale more than 2 it freaks out after 80-90 frames..as if it gets sucked in the bottm & the fluid breaks into pieces!

on the other hand when its set to "all grids except velocity" it respect all values llke temp turbubulence & high sim scale values.
my question is .. M i confused by this two thing??? lol
Is tht one cant get better swirl or billowing effect with high detail except velocity...the reason why I m stressing more on the second method coz with this method I feel safe abt my sim as it doesnt breaks into pieces.

regards
Vik

Hey Vik, I think the sim with velocity solve on is better espeically ther ground smoke. I have found that if you turn off temp turbulence and use a field instead you can control the turbulence more that way and you wont get out of control velocities.
