Lightning glow problem

When I render out my image in mental ray with a lightning glow effect, it is way more intense than when I render out a small region of it with the render region. Any idea why?

Nevermind. You just have to turn off auto exposure in the glow shader.

Glow is a post processing effect, so I believe when you render a region, it doesn't process the same way as the rest of the render. A lot of times, glow is just done in post just because its difficult to get proper results in your renders anyway.

I believe posts like this may get more answers in the Maya Rendering forum, but that's my best guess anyway!

It could be the auto exposure control on the glow node. It is a good idea to turn this off as it can also cause flickering in glow animations. Usually after turning it off you will need to adjust the glow and halo intensity on the glow node( typically they need to be much lower ).

yes it was just the auto exposure checked which was the problem, thanks.
