3D projection

Hello!!

Does anyone can give me some informations on how the 3d projection has to be done like
in this short clip from "The Other Guys"?



Perhaps I wasn't looking the right way on the internet but I didn't find good stuff.

Thanks for every useful tip.

Usually what you do is you camera track the entire shot. Then you take single frames from the camera track and project the original or modified still frames onto rough geometry. It is a commonly used technique.

I've been doing it that way for 12-13 years on films to clean up shots. I used to do this all in Maya back in the day but these days it is quite easy to do in the 3d engine of compositors like Nuke, Fusion or Flame.
