Question editing movie clips question

I have some tutorials where there are several clips and most are in .mov files and all I would like to do is just edit them to have one full clip rather then some smaller ones. I have tried premiere but the files end up being like 30 gbs when the whole folder would be like 2 gigs at most. I tried to export them to like wmv just cause it showed it being less space which worked but there was no sound. so not quite sure what else to do or how. Is there another program I could use other then movie maker.

Sounds rather like a codec issue than a software problem. What codecs are the files before and after editing them in Premiere?
