Need help on aligning vertices along axis.

Hello, can anyone tell me how to align verts/edges same as in this video:

Click on Minute: 11:50

He somehow aligns them all to the center, but when I try it goes past center...

You start out scaling very lightly, then repeat several times with increasingly larger scales.

I don't think starting lightly or scale matters. Just repeatedly push that scale manipulator really close to 0/flat, but avoid pushing it past the centre. A much easier way is to use the new modeling toolkit as it has a function enabled by default to "prevent negative scaling".. so all you do is just scale it flat and it will stop you before it can go past the centre.

I am not sure what part of the video you are referring to, but you can also turn on discrete scale in the tools settings.

Or just use VertexAlign. It's a free script over at CreativeCrash.
