Wire deformer not working
I'm trying to create a curved cable using wire deformer. The purple mesh when I select the curve indicates that the wire tool worked, but I get no transformation when moving the curve's vertices.
I've tried increasing the dropoff value but it didn't do anything. I've tried multiple times with various sizes and shapes but it results in the same thing. Can someone help?
EDIT: Turns out that the scale of the mesh relative to the curve matters (my cable mesh was too thick) which stopped any dropoff values.
Now however, I have an issue with making the transformations clean.
I've tried making the curve larger, rebuilding the curve with more cv's, messing with the dropoff values, but nothing creates a full 90-degree curve

A little off topic but have you considered using a joint chain and spline IK rig? it is quite a useful and flexible way to approach cables etc. Additionally you can make it stretchy which allows you to cheat when connecting the ends to different places. (Not to mention dynamic hair rigs if you ever require that).
Also if it is just a simple modeling task then maybe you need a Bend deformer rather that a wire.
Hope this is useful to you.
I think it was Francis Bacon that said there is 'no such thing as an original thought.' But I suspect he was quoting someone else.
