Not mentioned yet, but I think a good idea is to also do tutorials over at Digital Tutors as a place to get started with some good general beginning tutorials to intermediate subjects.

And if it was not clear, lost perhaps in other points being made, 1 Year is not enough. And in my opinion a uni not the best place either.

Your quest will be long. But you do not have to re-invent the wheel.

Your best sources for information are:

1) Your own artistic interests. Things you research and then find out how they were done, and learn the techniques.

2) The Maya Docs

3) Forum to get questions answered on specific things that you can not find in the docs or...

4) Tutorials.

And finally,

Repeat and rinse.

Good luck.

@mandark1011: which are the other avenues of VFX for which I can find a job in Blizzard?

Do you think that I have to do many training period and internships in studios all around the world, for many years, before finally working for Blizzard?

Do you think I should focus to be good in physics-related computer graphics field (and maybe to forget Blizzard)?

There was a thing that I was asking myself: do you have an idea on how many people have worked for these cinematics (the ones that I linked in the first post)?

Blizzard is not the only place that makes Cinematics.

Bur makes a lot as well:

Just work really hard to get really good. There is no formula other than that really. And take one step at a time.

No matter what you do, you have a long journey ahead.

One foot before the other.

First order of business is not worrying where you are going to work, but learning a 3D app and working on your artistic skills.
