I need some help constraining and parenting the parts of my desk lamp model

I just finished modeling all of the parts for a desk lamp I'm working on. However, it has been ages since I've done anything besides modeling and basic UV mapping and texturing. So, I'm basically looking for some input or advice on how someone else would go about parenting (I assume the base would be the parent of the entire parent-child heirarchy), and constraining the entire thing. It needs to pivot at the bottom, middle, top, and the lampshade needs to pivot independently of the other parts from the top piece. I also want to constrain the spring so it stretches and moves with the arms. So I guess what I need help with most, is what kinds of constraints should be used on what parts of the lamp, and what parenting needs to be done? Once I start, or get a basic idea of what I need to do, it should be fairly easy for me to go from there. I've done both(parenting and constraining separate meshes) before, mainly for a hydraulic cylinder type of rig for a school project, but that was 3 years ago haha.
