but does anybody know about the licence?
Is it possible that it is gone already in maya 2015?

If you have an active Maya Subscription, you will be able to download Maya 2014.5 come it's release date next month. This will be the first public release containing xGen.

It's 2014.5, so if you're on subscription you'll get it.
By corporate regulations AD can only promote things within the quarter, so unless 2015 will be oh this year, which seems unlikely, it'll be in September as they announced, in the extension.

I wondered about this too. Will it be a permanent inclusion after that (ie 2015 and beyond) or just a teaser in the 2014.5 extension?

xgen is a proper maya feature, not a third party demo plugin or a bonus thown in for adantage pack.

That is good news!

i must say that i like the way it is going in the last couple of releases.
It sure looks more promising than it did before.

keep up the good work.

cheers

What surprised me the most was a few days ago I saw Modo's new boolean tools "Mesh Fusion"

http://lesterbanks.com/2013/08/the-...l-dreamt-about/

and then I see Maya have something very similar! Totally unexpected.

well, people have been complaining about Maya (and most other apps') Booleans for years. It's no secret that you could break them with little effort in the past.

Yup it was 8th on the mayafeedback list.

As you can see, they really are paying attention to those forums/lists. So do keep your votes up to date. That means you can retract your votes for those items you know AD's addressed and spend them on something else!

ya, after there was a bit of a meltdown of frustration among users, I think they realized that they really need to listen and implement fixes and not just throw in more crap they have from other packages.

My ideascale vote: get rid of all menus and contextual items and put it all in one big ribbon.

I wonder if all this Maya attention has anything to do with 3dsmax's and Softimage's recent lack of attention. I don't use Soft or 3dsmax anymore but that's what I read lots from every where around the web.

If they implement a ribbon i'd switch. I moved from windows to linux to get rid of that whole touch large button crap. Xgen does look interesting though. Be great to see a good hair system in maya. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

What do you mean by that? What's a ribbon? Got an example?

It's the UI equivalent of what comic sans is for fonts.

One of the greatest disgraces in UI's history. Hopefully Beige was being ironic.
