Issues with FlexLM network licencing.

I'm trying to set up a network licence for Maya on our school system.

Our previous server crashed, so we already had Maya installed and it was pointing to the previous server which is not currently working.

The new licence server seems to be working. It says the server is running and there are licences available. I'm able to ping the server and I can access files off it through the network without issue.

I am however unable to load it on the client PCs, I keep getting an error that the FLEXnet licence manager can't connect to the server.

Let's assume my server is called "myserver"

I have tried the following:

  • Specified the name myserver in the popup window that appears on Maya Startup
Added a FLEXLM_TIMEOUT environment variable and set it to 10 million
Specified an environment variable with LM_LICENCE_FILE with myserver as the value
Renamed the the C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\AdLM folder in an attempt to clear the cache
made an environment variable called ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE with the value @myserver

Does anybody have any other suggestion?

We haven't tried a clean Maya install as we don't have the install disk :(

You need to reinstall maya and direct it to the new license server during installation. It's stupid, but that's the easiest or maybe even only way I know of. Surely there's a way to change it in the registry or a linux/mac config file, but I don't know of it.

it must be a really really old version of maya if it requires an install disc. Autodesk's subscription support is all download based and has had maya available since version 2008

Even their regular website support has updated software with service packs:
