Multiple Textures to One

I received a model/rig that is already textured, but the textures are spread out among several files.

How would I combine all of the textures into a single file without having to redo the UVs?

the only way you could do this is if the uv's don't overlap, then you could just merge the various textures. This is probably not the case. I'm assuming that for each texture they have maximized the UV layout to fill the UV quadrant.

Why do you need to merge them? If you do that you will either lose detail or end up with huge texture maps. Plus it may be really tedious to layout to work together.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately they do overlap. I was thinking it might be best to create a material atlas when imported into a game engine to reduce draw calls.

No way to have the different layers in a .psd file load into different inputs in a layered texture? I'm pretty sure I've heard of this at some point but it is possible I just dreamt it .

thanks for the suggestion, not sure if that'll work in this situation, but worth a shot (in my dreams )
