UV - a way to weight size of combined geos?

Combining geometry of a building in sections. Each time I combine geometry, I have Maya layout the UV space again. As I go, the first geometry UV shell gets shrunk smaller and smaller. So by the time I'm done, the first geometry has it's UV shell size shrunk to almost nothing in the layout.

Is there a way to tell the UV editor to adjust the layout of various sections to scale, so the largest geometry takes the largest section of the UV space? I can do this manually by scaling up a selected UV shell and then hitting layout. THanks.
