rock 3d texture substitute


I created a procedural sand shader using the "rock 3d texture" for both diffuse and bump. it looks fine, my only quibble are the render times. i can't use a 2d noise or anything as it needs to be fully procedural and UV mapping is no option. I'm rendering in mental ray.

I don't have too much experience with procedural texturing so I wondered if anybody could point me towards something that would decrease my rendertimes yet still maintain my fully procedural material.
