Viewport aspect weirdness in maya

Hi All

Recently moved upto Maya 2013 from 2010 and am noticing a bug that creeps in when moving around the viewports. When pressing either the middle or left mouse buttons the viewport occasionally jumps to a squashed aspect ratio. It doesnt do it every time but enough to make it highly annoying.

Anyone seen this problem?

Its an Nvidia 465 gtx card. Seems to be ok if I quit Maya and restart but it then returns after some use.

Not sure if its related but I get an error when I starting maya, although it seems to disable active stereo anyway.

Are you using any per-application overrides in your Nvidia Control Panel? You would have had to set them up manually, so if you haven't done so, there won't be any.

If you're not, perhaps give it a whirl. Overrides have helped with the Maya viewport across a wide spectrum of Nvidia cards for me, all the way back to the 7950GT.

The two main "fixers" I've found:

Multi-Display/mixed GPU = set to "Single Display Performance Mode"
Threaded Optimization = Off


I've done this with my GTX 460 with good results, perhaps it'll help your slightly sweeter card! Note that the Single Display mode won't affect your ability to use multiple monitors. The Viewport is rarely panned across multiples on my end, but all the menus and such have no problem floating to another monitor, anyway.
