Audience crowd simulation

Hi there, I'd just like to ask how do you make a crowd simulation in Maya? I have a project where I need to make a crowd simulation of people watching a tennis match I'd sure like to get some advice on what to do before we start our project

Well for the most part if you are talking hundreds or thousands of people in the crowd you will need to use particle expression, particle instancing or sprites with textures.

If you only have dozens of characters then it's possible to have copies of rigs or you can break it up into groups of characters.

There is also the issue of how close any of these character will get to camera.

There may be some maya plugins for this.. but I don't know them off the top of my head.
