Remove Reference Edits through MEL? Possible?

I am trying to remove reference edits on a hundred different references in my scene. Only the edits affecting their shader groups. Right now my code will unload each reference and reload it but the removing of edits seems to be broken within Maya. Has anyone had luck removing edits through MEL script? I have had any luck.

string $allRef[] = `ls -rf`;

for ($count = 10; $count < $total; $count++){

string $current = $allRef[$count];

file -unloadReference $current;

referenceEdit -editCommand "disconnectAttr" -removeEdits $allRef[$count];
referenceEdit -editCommand "connectAttr" -removeEdits $allRef[$count];

file -loadReference $current;

int $percent = (100 * $count / $total);
print ("/n" + $percent + "%" +"/n");
