Best way to make sausage links?

I need to make a chain of sausages that will form a word in script. Is there a poly-on-path script that sets this up easily?

That's the kind of thing C4D excels at, very easy to do with a cloner and a spline effector. You can key the strength of the effector and path offset to animate it.
I'm not aware of a direct equivalent in Maya but I do remember someone posted a better-than-native path tool here a few months back that would place objects along a path. Can't remember if you could animate the offset or the name of it though. Worth using the search here to see if it turns up.

Cheers,
Brian

Will it be animated or just for a still image? One way you could do it would be to make a single sausage, and set it to a motion path that is the shape of your letters. Then make sure the motion path curve (in the graph editor) is linear, and take an animation snapshot. You can adjust the motion path keyframes to make the sausages ends line up properly.

ya, I had thought of that since it's for stills but i thought there would be a more procedural method in case I want to change the path shape.

I guess that is a pretty obvious way of going about it. Well, if the path shape was adjusted, couldn't you just tweak the keyframe position/value for the motion path so the sausages fit again?
