Shave - using curves as guides

Hi all,

I tried importing curves into Maya(from Zbrush Fibermesh) to use as Shave guides. They look great (even if it's still a lot of guides), by selecting the imported curves and creating hair. But how do I actually attach the hair system to the head geometry?

The reason why I couldn't use comb to curves is the topology was different for the head in zbrush, so the curves don't line up with any curves I create in Maya by just "creating hair" when selecting the head geometry, if that makes sense.

Any help would be appreciated.
