Light Rays? Can't get them working right...

Hi all -

I've been trying to get some light rays using Physical Sun and Sky into my scene. I've followed the tutorial listed here using Transmat and Particle_Volume, but I'm getting a completely blown out white scene following the exact settings.

I'm using Maya 2013 and rendering with mental ray. This tutorial is a little old, so not sure if there is another method for getting light rays in a scene? Specifically through a window.

Thanks!

You don't really need to use that technique now I think. Not sure what there was in that version. But you can create a volume

Maybe you can try this tutorial:

Do everything else basically the same, but to control the end fade adjust the size and position of the volume object to where you want it to cut off and then adjust the Edge dropoff value. This way the effect won't just go on forever, it can fade off at the end.

The above will work with the sun light with "iluminated" activated.

You can also add a Volume Light - I presume. But I have not played with that yet.
