Best texturing app for Maya models
I am kind of in pain. I am modeling in Maya on OS X and I have been wondering which app to use to paint my textures on it.
It came to my knowledge that Photoshop can paint on models but sadly only 3D formats which are near to Maya are OBJ and 3DS.
Mari doesn‘t support OS X as far as I know.
Which app really is the best for painting textures on MB files?

I made a script to send COLLADA files to Photoshop Extended from Maya:
I use Photoshop for basic UV texturing and things like that. But if you want something more capable and made for 3D on OS X, Bodypaint or Mudbox are great. I use ZBrush for my sculpting and Mudbox for my texturing. I've tried Mari, but I don't like having to work inside a paint buffer and drop stuff down. It is a great app for huge assets though.
Otherwise, there are some more options:
- ZBrush's Polypaint (a little weird but a lot of people use it with the ZApplink plug-in.
- 3D Coat (cheap but also kind of gross)

If you know Maya and photoshop there is practically zero learning curve with Mudbox.
Which is nice if you, like me, don't paint textures full time, but every now and then need to paint some textures. Then I don't have to re-learn the app everytime
