Snapping to vertex with the polygon split tools?

Snapping to vertex with the polygon split tools?



Doing retopo of a CAD model here, say I wish to snap to the the new vertex being created by the interactive split tool to be directly below the original vertex (highlighted in green), is there any way to do this?
Like what you'd get while holding v+click-dragging a vertex. I assumed you'd simply hold 'v' while dragging with the tool to snap to any nearby vertices but seems not.

Sure, I can eyeball a rough retopo with the split poly tool/interactive split tool, and then just snap the new vertices in line with the old ones later, but that messes with my UVs.

well personnaly I still use the old split tool, much more reliable IMO, and no problem snapping to vertex.
